Adam Vinatieri was born on December 28, 1972, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Judy and Paul Vinatieri. Adam was very well endowed with sports facilities and equipment as a child, as his parents strongly supported his desire to become an athlete. Adam Vinatieri began playing tennis, baseball, and basketball at a young age. He even wrestled at times, but he was most interested in and dedicated to football.
When asked why he did not consider playing the same sport in a different role (i.e. goalkeeper, chaser, etc.), he stated that because of his large body and height, he could only play from the back in High School because the other players were not as big as him. Despite his great grandfather’s interest in music, his parents’ primary focus was sports.
Adam Vinatieri attended Rapid City Central High School in Rapid City, South Dakota. He received his bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University. Adam Vinatieri’s professional football training began shortly after his graduation in 1995. His career began when the National Football League Europe called him in for a tryout (earlier known as the World League of American Football).
