He is best known for his roles in The Gifted as Wes, On My Block as Mario Martinez, the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Joaquin Torres, and Top Gun: Maverick as Lt. Mickey “Fanboy” Garcia (2022). Ramirez grew up in Miami after being born in Chicago. He has Colombian and Mexican ancestors. He went to Coral Park Senior High School in Miami. He wanted to be an athlete as a child and tried American football and soccer. He claims that it took him a year after suffering injuries to realize he needed a new career.

While attending New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Danny Ramirez made his television debut on Showtime’s The Affair, followed by roles on NBC’s Blindspot and the feature film, Rapid Eye Movement. He appeared as Wes on Fox’s The Gifted and as Mario Martinez on Netflix’s hit series On My Block. He also appeared as a guest star on Orange Is the New Black. Soon after graduating, he appeared in Sam Levinson’s Assassination Nation, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Soon after, he played Chip in Metro-Goldwyn-remake Mayer’s musical Valley Girl. Recently, he completed director Katharine O’Brien’s Lost Transmissions (with Simon Pegg, Juno Temple, and Alexandra Daddario), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2019, Richard Bates Jr.’s Tone-Deaf, which premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2019, and David Raboy’s The Giant, which premiered on September 7, 2019, at the Toronto International Film Festival.
