Saturday Night Live’s parody of Scooby-Doo this weekend was just like any classic episode of the cartoon at first, with the gang investigating a haunted mansion and Fred (Jake Gyllenhaal) ripping off the “phantom’s” mask to reveal that it was actually Old Man Franklin who’d been terrorizing the town. “But wait a second, who is Old Man Franklin…really,” Fred wonders, noting that no one is who they appear to be. Going to rip off yet another mask, Fred instead rips off Old Man Franklin’s real face, to horrified screams from everybody in the room. “We need to put the face in a bowl of dry rice,” Daphne (Sabrina Carpenter) says as they all panic. As Scooby begins to eat the face, a faint Shaggy (Mikey Day) gets his arm ripped off by a secret doorway, sending blood spurting. Things only escalate when Velma (Sarah Sherman, who is never far when something gross is being filmed) gets decapitated and Fred shoots a cop. Ruh roh!
